The Hawkins Contura Black XT Pressure Cooker – 5 Litre is the induction-compatible evolution of the popular Contura Black — adding a 4.88 mm Xtra Thick base with a permanently attached AISI 430 magnetic stainless steel plate that makes the cooker fully compatible with induction cooktops, in addition to gas, electric, ceramic, and halogen cooktops. The "XT" stands for "Xtra Thick", referring to this significantly thicker base compared to the standard Contura Black's 3.25 mm — a base that heats up quickly, retains heat well, and always stays perfectly flat under heavy-duty daily use. Like the standard Contura Black, the body is hard anodised to 60 microns thickness inside and outside — creating a permanent, scratch-proof, corrosion-resistant black finish that is integral to the aluminium surface, not a coating.
